Report | The Purified Body of Martyr Haj Qassim Soleimani (r) Was in Five Pieces Without a Head:
Commander Syed Muhammad Baqerzadeh:
The night we were handling the remains of Haj Qassim Soleimani and his companions at the Me’raj al-Shohada in Tehran, it was a unique and challenging situation. The body parts were mixed together, and we had to reassemble and attach the torn pieces to their respective bodies.
The bodies of Martyr Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis and Martyr Haj Qassim Soleimani were in several pieces. Haj Qassim’s body was torn into five parts. We had to reattach the pieces.
Their DNA was quickly analyzed, and the night before the ceremony, when their bodies were being prepared for prayers led by Imam Khamenei (H) at Tehran University, we returned to the Me’raj al-Shohada in Tehran.
It was impossible to perform ghusl (ritual washing) for the bodies.
We performed tayammum (dry purification), then shrouded, equipped, and prepared them. The bodies were placed in coffins and made ready for subsequent ceremonies and the funeral procession.
I informed Imam Khamenei (H), saying:
“Your Excellency, we have taken steps to prepare the purified bodies of the martyrs. Performing ghusl was not possible; instead, we performed tayammum. We used shrouds, cotton, fabric, plastic, and other materials, but preparing these bodies was extremely difficult.
Gathering and arranging the torn pieces of their bodies was an arduous task. We had to organize the scattered flesh to present them as complete bodies and place them in coffins.”
Martyr Soleimani’s body was without a head; only part of his shoulder, part of his foot, and shattered fragments of his hands and other parts remained. These bodies were severely mutilated. I shared this with His Excellency and then referred to the tragedy of Karbala, saying:
“With such difficulty, we prepared the martyrs for burial. I cannot imagine how Imam Zayn al-Abidin managed to prepare the body of Imam Husayn (A) for burial using only a simple mat in Karbala!”
Imam Khamenei (H) responded:
“You endured hardship, but these were martyrs of the battlefield.” He explained that such martyrs, according to Islamic jurisprudence, do not require ghusl or shrouding. With this single jurisprudential ruling, the entire matter changed.
These martyrs, under the principle of “la yughassal wa la yukaffan” (no need for washing or shrouding), did not require ghusl, shrouding, or even tayammum.
And they dare to think that Iran is joking or has done nothing for Palestine? Hell to the liars, deceivers, and mockers of those who fight for the cause. Fear the wrath of Allah, for He is watching.
Those who belittle the sacrifices made for justice and truth will face His judgment.
