When it comes to Haj Qassem Soleimani, his military acumen and genius tactics immediately come into mind. General Soleimani throughout his professional career, in the war with Iraq, commanding security forces in Iran’s eastern borders and ultimately as the commander of IRGC’s Quds Force, manifested his paramount military aptitude.
But regardless of his high-quality military talents, Gen. Soleimani was earnestly looking forward to cultivating potentials which can positively contribute to Iran’s financial development.
Contrary to the common belief that Iran has set massive budgets for the advisory role which it plays in Syria, General Soleimani proved the fact that Iran’s support for the Syrian government has many long-term effects on maintaining Iran’s economic progress.
One of the most significant contributions made by Haj Qassem Soleimani concerning the progress of Iranian national economy is that by saving Syria and Iraq from falling into ISIS’ hands, Iran now enjoys an open economic corridor, stretching from Tehran to the Mediterranean Sea.
Iran’s access to the key Mediterranean ports in Syria via the Al-Qa’em-Bukamal corridor, helped Iran to circumvent the US-imposed sanctions against the Iranian, Iraq and Syrian nations. Furthermore, Gen. Soleimani had taken serious steps to build a railway line that connects the Iranian port of Chabahar to the port of Latakia in Syria, thereby connecting the Persian Gulf to the Mediterranean Sea and this will play an important role in advancing Iranian commercial interests.
Due to the diligent efforts made by Gen. Soleimani, Iranian companies will participate in reconstructing Syria’s damaged infrastructure in the post-war period. The Syrian and Iraqi lucrative market, in short, were being opened to the Iranian firms by the late Haj Qassem Soleimani.
These brilliant achievements would not have been possible without regaining the security in Iraq, Syria and Lebanon. The extensive efforts made by Gen. Soleimani, both diplomatically and militarily, shall never die or fall into oblivion.
