Figures such as al-Muhandis and General Soleimani thwarted US plans to redraw the map of West Asia and North Africa.
Many, like Bangkok-based geopolitical researcher Anthony Kartalucci believe that figures such as Commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis and Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani and – in a broader sense – the efforts of Iranians, Syrians, Iraqis and Russia have thwarted US plans to redraw the map of North Africa and West Asia (the Middle East).
US terrorist forces assassinated General Soleimani, who was among the main figures in the fight against terrorism in Syria and Iraq in the past several years, and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the second man in the leadership of the Popular Mobilization Units loyal to the Iraqi government in Iraq. US terrorists assassinated them in an airstrike ordered by US President Donald Trump on Baghdad International Airport on January 3, 2020. General Soleimani had a charismatic personality and viewed as a courageous hero in Iran, loved by all forces and currents. He spent his life defending the interests of the Islamic revolution in the region and the world.
Therefore, he is considered a national hero of the Iranian people, among the various political and religious orientations. The free people of the world also see him as the main figure in defeating ISIS, the most famous terrorist group in the world, and North Africa and West Asia.
The question is how to evaluate American behavior based on international law? The terrorist forces of the United States of America killed Commander Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis and Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani in the midst of its illegal occupation of Iraq violating international laws as well as in violation of US internal laws.
Practically this was a targeted killing and was illegal in every conceivable way. But given Washington’s record of carrying out crimes internationally – from assassinations to large-scale wars – this type of crime is “normal”. Unfortunately, the world has not done much about it, especially the United Nations, which has remained ineffective.
