Fiasco: The American assassination of General Qassem Soleimani
The perfidious murder of Iran’s legendary military commander, Major General Qassem Soleimani, on Friday, 3 January 2020, revealed the malign character of the US government and its utter disrespect for international law. Much to the chagrin of Trump and his criminal clique, the martyrdom of Gen. Soleimani breathed a new life into the resistance movement across the Middle-East region as martyrdom had been always an age-old dream for Gen. Soleimani and other followers of Imam Hussein [PBUH]. Had the ignorant thugs in the White House knew that the assassination of Gen. Soleimani would stir the thirst for revenge in the bosom of every Iranian, they would have never dared to commit that heinous crime.
Donald Trump, during his raucous presidential campaign, back in 2016, argued that the former administrations had enmeshed the United States in interminable crises in the Middle-East region, where 50.000 Americans were killed or injured so far and $8.000 Billion spent for the futile conflicts. Trump promised the American voters that he would extricate the American military from the Iraqi quagmire. But the reality proved otherwise. In fact, Trump’s mendacious policies plunged Iraq into intense violence and instability, as tens of thousands of innocent Iraqi and Afghan civilians were killed by the delusional Trump administration.
Trump vowed that he would divert his attention to the American domestic issues. Though, one can see that he exacerbated the already raging arms race in the volatile Middle-East by selling millions of dollars of weapons to the coward, albeit despotic Arab Sheikhs. Far from rescuing Americans, Trump destructively interfered in the baffling politics of the Middle-East, supporting rebels or overthrowing democratically-elected governments. Ultimately, Trump’s malign agenda’s accentuated the public sense of disgust with the US government across the Middle East, and Washington fuelled this catastrophic atmosphere by assassinating the late Gen. Soleimani.
Following WWII, no one could have imagined that a country like Iran could retaliate militarily against a nuclear power like the United States. But time has changed. No sooner was Gen. Soleimani martyred than American forces stationed at Ain Al Assad military airbase in western Iraq founded themselves bombarded by a heavy barrage of Iranian medium-range ballistic missiles, indicating that the Middle East is no longer a safe place for American troops. The Iranian missile attack invariably has shaken the American Army’s prestige and pave the way for the ultimate American withdrawal from the Middle-east region.
